THE Pangasinan Police will deploy 95 percent of the policemen on the streets and cemeteries during the Undas, according to Chief Inspector Norman Florentino, chief of the Police Community Relations (PCR).

He said the police will be on high alert when families troop to the cemeteries on the eve of All Saints Day, November 1.

Security will be tight in all places to avert possible attacks by terrorists, Florentino told the KBP Forum on Oct. 25.

The deployment of policemen, he said, will begin on Oct. 31 and will continue till November 2.

The Pangasinan Police is anticipating heavy vehicular traffic along all roads leading to Pangasinan from Metro Manila as there may be another exodus to Baguio because of the long holiday offered by this year’s Undas starting October 31.

November 1 falls on a Thursday and Friday, Nov. 2, was declared a non-work holiday by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Part of the police strength will be utilized to man existing Hi-PADs or Highway Police Assistance Desks where motorists in distress can seek assistance.

Florentino said the Hi-PADs will also be beefed up by personnel of local government units, particularly first aid teams. (Leonardo Micua)
